Hispanic Heritage Month
The Parent Association teamed up with UNIDOS to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in a burst of energy, flavor, and community spirit.
Happenings!
On October 9, the campus came alive with delicious food, vibrant festivities, and excited students ready to soak in every moment of the celebration.
On October 16, the month culminated in an inspiring author panel. Ingrid Paredes, Class of 2000, moderated and shared powerful insights about the importance of cultural heritage in writing.
In a sparkling collaboration with Simon & Schuster, Luis Jaramillo, author of Witches of El Paso, and Yadon Israel, editor of Loca, spoke with students about their books and the vital role of cultural identity and storytelling.
Each student walked away with autographed copies, a keepsake from an unforgettable afternoon. Special thanks to UNIDOS for embracing the book panel
—Ms. Rivas, Clarissa, and Ariel were instrumental in coordinating and energizing the discussion, ensuring a lively, engaging experience for everyone.
The excitement didn’t stop there: following the panel, tango lessons with Rebecca Shulman got everyone’s feet tapping, and a delicious dinner curated by the Parent Association provided a festive closing note for students and parents alike.
This fantastic pair of events was brought to life through a dynamic collaboration with UNIDOS and garnered generous support from the National Honor Society/ Parent Services.
What a month of culture, connection, and celebration!
